Step 2 – Private Certificate
If you choose to obtain the additional training, you may continue
and receive your Private Certificate. This will allow you more
freedom as a pilot. You may fly at night, and carry as many passengers
as is legal for the aircraft that you fly. You may not charge
your passengers, but you may split expenses for the flight. You
may fly virtually anywhere, as long as you follow all the rules
and guidelines imposed by the FAA.
Step 3 – Commercial Certificate
If your passion for aviation cannot be satisfied as a Private
Pilot, you may want to consider a career in aviation. If you would
like to proceed with your training, you may obtain a Commercial
Certificate. A Commercial Certificate will entitle you to all
the privileges of a Private Certificate, but will also allow you
to charge a fee for your services.
It takes approximately 35-60 hours of flight time to obtain your
Recreational and/or Private Flight Certificate, and about the
same amount of ground training. This varies according to the student.
Safety is the number one priority, so your instructor must be
confident that you have mastered everything necessary for you
to safely fly on your own before you will earn your Certificate.
